PELUCID

A ROCK-HARD GLOSSY TOPCOAT
Updated and Expanded
Instructions for use

Pelucid
is a water-clear single-component topcoat for application on fiberglass, wood, and other surfaces as well. It will dry to a rock-hard finish that won't crack, chip, or peel, and it is strengthened by exposure to moisture, unlike most other coatings.

SUGGESTED USES
* Finish coat for hardwoods, especially flooring
* Exterior finish for wood and concrete
* Protective coating for fiberglass
* Exterior coat for wood paneling, marine wood finishes
* Finish coat for marine woods, bar tops, and furniture
* Finish coat for wooden stairs

SURFACE PREPARATION

All surfaces to be coated must be free of grease, oil and all foreign matter. Surfaces must also be bone-dry. Moisture often remains in the pores of substrates even when surfaces appear to be dry.

Proper attention to eliminating all moisture before coating (warm air blower) will insure a beautiful finish.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

BY BRUSH: Apply in even strokes and don't re-brush continually, as coating needs time to flow out and level itself.

Though it is best to spray large areas, small pieces or hard to spray areas can be brushed or dipped. If surface is weathered fiberglass, aged or unfinished wood, sand splinters and rough sections before brushing.

Brush 2 thin covering coats, avoid puddles or drips. Apply 2nd coat at least 1 hr after 1st coat is dry to the touch.

BY SPRAY: Use 25-35 PSI and spray 2 light covering coats (especially important on vertical surfaces). Thinning is usually not required. If necessary, thin lightly with Xylene,
no more than 1:20 or 5%.
SPECIAL NOTE: Organic vapor particulate respirators, NIOSH/MSHA approved, MUST be used when spraying Pelucid. Air-supplied respirators should always be used when spraying in a confined area.

SECOND COAT: Apply 1 hour after first coat is dry to the touch, usually between 2 to 3 hours, depending on ambient humidity. The higher the humidity, the faster Pelucid will dry, but increasing humidity to achieve a faster cure is not recommended.

Pelucid is self-leveling and will "flow out" if given time. If you sand between coats, allow previous coat to dry fully.

Weathered or Faded Gelcoat/Fiberglass: Clean with POR-15 Marine-Clean. Sand with 300 grit. Surface must be dry & dust free. Avoid applying in direct sunlight or on a hot surface.

Apply second coat 1 hr after 1st coat is dry to touch (2-3 hrs).

Unpainted Seasoned Metal: Remove grease and dirt with Marine Clean. After sandblasting, remove all dust before coating. Apply by spray or brush (see above).

Painted Surfaces: Surface should be fully cured. Follow above instructions for spraying or brushing.

Wood: Apply Pelucid with foam or bristle brush. Untreated wood may need 3 or more coats.

Follow instructions for brushing.

WARNING! FLAMMABLE! Keep away from open flame. Avoid prolonged contact with skin and breathing of vapor mist. Do not get into eyes or on skin. Remove from skin with POR-15 Solvent, xylene or lacquer thinner, then wash skin with soap and water.

FIRST AID: If affected by inhalation of vapor or spray mist, remove to fresh air. If breathing difficulty persists or occurs later, consult physician and have label information available. In case of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and call physician. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting, call physician at Poison Control Center immediately.

KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN.

Hazardous Ingredients: Xylene, Cas #1330-20-7, Ethyl Benzene, Cas #100-41-4, Isophorone Diisocyanate, Cas #4098-71-9.
